Male breast cancer

Male breast cancer

Male breast cancer is a rare cancer that forms in the breast tissue of men. Though breast cancer is most commonly thought of as a woman's disease, male breast cancer does occur.
Male breast cancer is most common in older men, though it can occur at any age.

Symptoms

Signs and symptoms of male breast cancer can include:

Types
Types of breast cancer diagnosed in men include:
  • Cancer that begins in the milk ducts (ductal carcinoma). Nearly all male breast cancer is ductal carcinoma.
  • Cancer that begins in the milk-producing glands (lobular carcinoma). This type is rare in men because they have few lobules in their breast tissue.
  • Cancer that spreads to the nipple (Paget's disease of the nipple). Rarely, male breast cancer forms in the milk ducts and spreads to the nipple, causing crusty, scaly skin around the nipple

Risk Factors

Factors that increase the risk of male breast cancer include:
  • Older age.
  • Exposure to estrogen..
  • Family history of breast cancer..
  • Klinefelter's syndrome.
  • Liver disease..

Home Remedies for Dry Cough That Will Give You Instant Relief

Home Remedies for Dry Cough That Will Give You Instant Relief

A dry cough is a type of cough that doesn't produce any sputum or phlegm. It feels as if something's stuck in the throat and you cannot get it out even with continuous coughing. A dry, hacking cough may also be the outcome of an exposure to allergens and dusty environments. Whatever the cause, you can always make use of certain home remedies for dry cough to improve your condition.

Honey

Why it helps: Honey is one of the oldest dry cough home remedies and also one of the commonly used components in cough syrups. It works because of its analgesic properties that eliminate the mucus and soothes your throat. Honey is effective also because it has strong anti-oxidant and anti-microbial properties, both effective for relieving sore throat.
How to apply: The ideal way to take honey is by mixing it up with warm milk. This will also go a long way in relieving chest pain you usually feel due to incessant coughing.

Turmeric

Why it helps: The turmeric contains curcumin, the active agent that has strong anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties. It is therefore quite effective in treating viral infections like cough and cold.
How to apply: Take a teaspoon of fine turmeric powder and mix it up with equal amount of carom seeds. Now add them to boiling water and let it boil until only half of it remains. Add a little honey to this solution and take it thrice a day. You can also drink warm milk with some turmeric to experience relief for dry cough.

Warm Milk and Honey

Why it helps: Honey has anti-inflammatory properties, whereas hot milk will help bring the mucus up from your chest and respiratory tract. The combination of both will serve as one of the best home remedies for cough.
How to apply: Mix a teaspoon of honey in a glass of hot milk and drink it before going to bed. This will help you sleep better and make it easier to get relief from the coughing. Regular drinking will help treat throat irritation effectively.

Ginger

Why it helps: Ginger is a natural analgesic, and that's why it's a common ingredient in cough syrups and lozenges. It helps soothe irritation and scratchiness caused by sore throat. It also has anti-inflammatory properties and leaves a cleansing effect on your respiratory system.
How to apply: Cut a ginger into small pieces and crush them completely. Add it to water and start boiling. Once cooled off, you should take it at least thrice a day for dry cough relief.
Besides, rubbing your chest with ginger oil or chewing ginger slices are among the simplest home remedies for dry cough.

Garlic

Why it helps: Garlic has anti-microbial, anti-bacterial, and anti-viral properties, and due to its active agent called "allicin," it can be one of the most effective home remedies for dry cough. It also boosts your immune system and helps you fight with infections that cause a dry cough.

How to apply: Boil a glass of water and add a few garlic cloves to it. While it's boiling, add a teaspoon of oregano to the mixture. Once cooled off, add some honey and consume this mixture twice a day. Mixing up garlic with clove oil and honey will also help relieve soreness

Gargle Salt Water

Why it helps: Salt water helps treat sore throat through osmosis, and it can be a good remedy for a dry cough as well. The idea works because the salt inside the cells of your mucous membranes flows out to balance the salt outside of the cells, and this will reduce swelling.
How to apply: Mix one teaspoon of salt in 8 ounces of warm water. Take a sip, gargle for 15 seconds, and spit. Take another sip and repeat the same. Be sure to rinse your mouth with plain water afterwards.

Steam

Why it helps: Steam loosens phlegm and mucous and helps improve your condition. You can add specific essential oils and take advantage of their anti-bacterial, anti-viral, and anti-inflammatory properties.
How to apply: You need a bowl of water, a clean towel, a couple of drops of eucalyptus oil, and 3 drops of tea tree oil. Boil water in a heatproof bowl and add the essential oils to it. Now lean over the bowl and inhale the steam for 5-10 minutes thrice a day. Keep your head covered with a towel for better effects.

CAUSES & RISK FACTORS OF BREAST CANCER

CAUSES & RISK FACTORS OF BREAST CANCER

Cancer is a broad term for a class of diseases characterized by abnormal cells that grow and invade  healthy cells in the body.  Breast cancer starts in the cells of the breast as a group of cancer cells that can then invade surrounding tissues or spread (metastasize) to other areas of the body.

Causes

It's not clear what causes breast cancer.
Doctors know that breast cancer occurs when some breast cells begin growing abnormally. These cells divide more rapidly than healthy cells do and continue to accumulate, forming a lump or mass. The cells may spread (metastasize) through your breast to your lymph nodes or to other parts of your body.

SYMPTOMS OF BREAST CANCER ALL GIRLS SHOULD KNOW click here to read

Breast cancer most often begins with cells in the milk-producing ducts (invasive ductal carcinoma). Breast cancer may also begin in the glandular tissue called lobules (invasive lobular carcinoma) or in other cells or tissue within the breast.
Researchers have identified hormonal, lifestyle and environmental factors that may increase your risk of breast cancer. But it's not clear why some people who have no risk factors develop cancer, yet other people with risk factors never do. It's likely that breast cancer is caused by a complex interaction of your genetic makeup and your environment.

Risk factors

A breast cancer risk factor is anything that makes it more likely you'll get breast cancer. But having one or even several breast cancer risk factors doesn't necessarily mean you'll develop breast cancer. Many women who develop breast cancer have no known risk factors other than simply being women.
Factors that are associated with an increased risk of breast cancer include:
  • Being female. Women are much more likely than men are to develop breast cancer.
  • Increasing age. Your risk of breast cancer increases as you age.
  • A personal history of breast cancer. If you've had breast cancer in one breast, you have an increased risk of developing cancer in the other breast.
  • A family history of breast cancer. If your mother, sister or daughter was diagnosed with breast cancer, particularly at a young age, your risk of breast cancer is increased. Still, the majority of people diagnosed with breast cancer have no family history of the disease.
  • Inherited genes that increase cancer risk. Certain gene mutations that increase the risk of breast cancer can be passed from parents to children. The most common gene mutations are referred to as BRCA1 and BRCA2. These genes can greatly increase your risk of breast cancer and other cancers, but they don't make cancer inevitable.
  • Radiation exposure. If you received radiation treatments to your chest as a child or young adult, your risk of breast cancer is increased.
  • Obesity. Being obese increases your risk of breast cancer.
  • Beginning your period at a younger age. Beginning your period before age 12 increases your risk of breast cancer.
  • Beginning menopause at an older age. If you began menopause at an older age, you're more likely to develop breast cancer.
  • Having your first child at an older age. Women who give birth to their first child after age 30 may have an increased risk of breast cancer.
  • Having never been pregnant. Women who have never been pregnant have a greater risk of breast cancer than do women who have had one or more pregnancies.
  • Postmenopausal hormone therapy. Women who take hormone therapy medications that combine estrogen and progesterone to treat the signs and symptoms of menopause have an increased risk of breast cancer. The risk of breast cancer decreases when women stop taking these medications.
  • Drinking alcohol. Drinking alcohol increases the risk of breast cancer.

SYMPTOMS OF BREAST CANCER ALL GIRLS SHOULD KNOW

SYMPTOMS OF BREAST CANCER ALL GIRLS SHOULD KNOW

Breast cancer is an uncontrolled growth of breast cells. To better understand breast cancer, it helps to understand how any cancer can develop.
Cancer occurs as a result of mutations, or abnormal changes, in the genes responsible for regulating the growth of cells and keeping them healthy. The genes are in each cell’s nucleus, which acts as the “control room” of each cell. Normally, the cells in our bodies replace themselves through an orderly process of cell growth: healthy new cells take over as old ones die out. But over time, mutations can “turn on” certain genes and “turn off” others in a cell. That changed cell gains the ability to keep dividing without control or order, producing more cells just like it and forming a tumor.
A tumor can be benign (not dangerous to health) or malignant (has the potential to be dangerous). Benign tumors are not considered cancerous: their cells are close to normal in appearance, they grow slowly, and they do not invade nearby tissues or spread to other parts of the body. Malignant tumors are cancerous. Left unchecked, malignant cells eventually can spread beyond the original tumor to other parts of the body.

Sign and symptoms of breast cancer may include:

  • A breast lump or thickening that feels different from the surrounding tissue
  • Change in the size, shape or appearance of a breast
  • Changes to the skin over the breast, such as dimpling
  • A newly inverted nipple
  • Peeling, scaling or flaking of the pigmented area of skin surrounding the nipple (areola) or breast skin
  • Redness or pitting of the skin over your breast, like the skin of an orange

When to see a doctor

If you find a lump or other change in your breast — even if a recent mammogram was normal — make an appointment with your doctor for prompt evaluation.

5 Home Remedies for Constipation

5 Home Remedies for Constipation

Constipation treatments don't always have to involve drugs. Learn about more natural alternatives.

The symptoms of constipation are usually the same for everyone. If you aren't having as many bowel movements as you normally do, or if your stool is hard, dry, or painful, you're probably experiencing a bout of constipation.
Fortunately, the condition is rarely a sign of serious disease and usually can be cleared up without drastic measures. In fact, there are several home remedies for constipation that can help alleviate the discomfort.
While signs accompanying constipation such as abdominal pain, bloody stool, or unexpected weight loss should be brought to a doctor's attention, for run-of-the-mill constipation bouts, these non-drug constipation remedies just might do the trick.

FISH OIL

Fish oil, derived either from diet or in supplement form, is a rich source of these fatty acids. Specifically, cold-water fish such as salmon, mackerel, halibut, sardines, tuna, and herring contain eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Fish oil supplements also contain EPA and DHA.
Another downside to using this constipation remedy is that fish oil can cause gas and bloating, and in some cases diarrhea. And it is important to know the source of fish oil before using it as a constipation remedy, as some fish may contain heavy metals such as mercury and other contaminants.

CASTOR OIL

Castor oil is a yellowish liquid that can be used as a home remedy for constipation because of its laxative property. castor oil should be cautiously administered as a constipation remedy. It should not be taken at bedtime, due to its quick effects. Another downside to this constipation remedy is that it tastes bad, so it is recommended that the castor oil be chilled and mixed with a sweetener such as orange juice. Castor oil is generally considered safe, but it can lead to overdose if taken in large amounts.

FIBER

One of the best known home remedies for constipation is fiber. The recommended dosage - 20 to 35 grams per day - can be found in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Fiber is also a convenient constipation remedy since most people already have these items in their homes.
The one downside to using fiber as a constipation home remedy is that it can actually make constipation worse if you don't drink plenty of water with it. For the fiber to help alleviate constipation, it needs fluids to help move it through the digestive system. Fiber derived from supplements especially must be taken with water in order to avoid worsening constipation.

HERBS

Herbal therapy is one of the oldest forms of constipation treatments - numerous cultures around the world have used herbs to cure constipation for thousands of years. This tried-and-true constipation therapy is generally divided into two categories: bulk-forming and stimulant laxatives.
Commonly used bulk-forming herbal laxatives include flaxseed, fenugreek, and barley. If you opt for flaxseed as a constipation remedy, you should remember that flaxseed oil is different from the actual flaxseeds, which are available as whole or crushed seeds; flaxseed oil is not a constipation remedy. Stimulant herbs for constipation include senna, Cascara segrada, and aloe.

PROBIOTICS

Probiotics are the bacteria inside our intestines that promote digestion. Examples of probiotics are Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium, and Sacchromyces boulardi, and they are available in supplement form and some foods, such as yogurt. Some studies have shown that probiotics are an effective non-drug cure for constipation

The homemade remedy to clean the colon effectively

The homemade remedy to clean the colon effectively

An unclean colon can make our body a host of diseases and can even cause cancer. Colon helps the waste pass out of the body that accumulates after the digestive system removes the nutrients from the food we eat. But thanks to our diet and the processed foods that we eat, toxins and low fiber content can make this process difficult for the colon. And when the colon backs up with this toxic material, it affects the whole body and various body functions become sluggish or difficult. Here are some benefits of keeping your colon clean.
Clean colon means perfectly working digestive system and no constipation. Constipation makes waste linger in the body and cause harm to the digestive tract and its inability to absorb nutrients reduces drastically. A clean colon will solve this problem and keep you healthy.

Here is a 2-ingredient drink that will help you keep the colon clean and have healthy bowel movements.

HONEY
The two ingredients that make up this effective colon cleansing recipe are raw honey and apple cider vinegar. The best apple cider vinegar needs to have the murky content at the bottom of the bottle. The other ingredient is honey and it would be better if it is raw and not a processed one. ACV contains acetobacter, which helps in breaking down the food in the digestive system and also helps in passing the waste via the colon, easier, thus, cleaning the colon during the process.

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR

To prepare the mixture, take 8 ounces of water and add 2 tablespoons of raw honey and 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in the water. Now stir the mixture until the honey dissolves in the water. The best time to drink this concoction is in the morning, but you can drink it anytime you would like to clean the colon. It works fast and gives you a clean and healthy bowel movement. Honey has eugenol, which is known to kill cancer cells in the colon and ACV has anti-microbial and antioxidant properties, and it also prevents diabetes, hypertension and controls obesity.

15 Natural Remedies That Can Cure Almost All Diseases

Home remedies

These 18 tips may not be able to fully compensate for medical help, but they certainly can be used as a healthier method of treatment.
If you have problems with gastritis, toothache and pain in the muscles…

1. Ginger

This plant which is consumed in the kitchen as a spice, is a remedy against dizziness and nausea caused by chemotherapy and some similar treatments, and it is also excellent for sea sickness and for detoxification and strengthening of the immunity. In small doses, the ginger is harmless, but sometimes it can cause allergic reactions such as rashes, problems with breathing or closing of the throat and swelling of the lips. If this happens, you should see a doctor. But since you know that the ginger has many uses, you should not ignore it. The best way is to consume it grinded, you can also grate it in tea or juice and you can find it in capsules and liquid extract.

2. Aloe Vera heals the smaller burns

The aloe vera gel contains active ingredients that help the burns heal. However, you should certainly know that this plant is not for oral use, and although some people claim that it has laxative properties, do not drink it. It is true that in the large intestine, the aloe turns into soap and therefore, after continuous use it may be harmful. Despite that, you can ease the painful burns if you can find the whole plant and occasionally squeeze the juice or the gel. It is necessary to break off the ends of the plant and squeeze the gel that resembles a hair balm. Apply the gel on the burns, and very soon you will feel much better.

3. Try the tea tree oil

The tea tree oil is useful against fungi on the nails, athlete’s foot, boils, ulcers, dermatophytes and other diseases, it is rich in natural antifungal and antibacterial properties. Apply it on the inflamed tissue and it is useful against dandruff, in which case you should apply it directly to the hair. However, you should dilute it before using it and do not apply it on sensitive areas such as the genitals. You can dilute it with olive oil. Caution! You must not swallow the tea tree oil.
